The world is made up of two groups of people - those who like to shop and those who hate to shop. I'm a member of the "likes to shop" group. Actually, I may be President of the group, but we're all too busy shopping to tally up the ballots.
I just spent a week away from home, and I had some free time each day to spend shopping. A friend asked me if it was boring for me to spend the day alone while the children were in school in an unfamiliar town. It wasn't boring at all; I ran out of time to see and do everything I wanted to do!
I had access to larger and different grocery stores, which means there were products available that I can't normally buy when I am at home. At Kroger I was able to find these elusive Cinnamon Chips that I have wanted for a recipe that I have held on to for months.
This may not seem like a very exciting purchase, but it was something that I was very happy to find. I have looked in every grocery store for these.
I also was able to browse the aisles of Whole Foods and admire the produce and all the items that are just not available in my area grocery stores. I love that store!
I made a couple of visits to every crafter's friend, Hobby Lobby. I was hoping to buy a particular fabric printed with sock monkeys for a sewing project that I had in mind to work on while I was out of town, but unfortunately it was not in stock. Charlie and I had better luck, though, with the supplies for his
Valentine box. Hobby Lobby had everything we needed to make his project, except for the empty soda box, and we found that in the recycling bin.
I also bought a new cake decorating tip at Hobby Lobby.
Sometimes a very small purchase can make me very happy.
This is the same tip my sister used for these cupcakes last month, and I like them. I haven't been able to find this tip as a single purchase until I was shopping on this trip. I had only seen it available in a larger set along with tips that I already had and didn't need.
I went to Kirkland's and bought a clock to replace one at home that was broken.
I enjoyed having time to look and choose one that would fit in the spot where it was needed.
Then I spent a little time browsing the bargain books at Garden Ridge for some cookbooks. I was rewarded x3.
I also browsed Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl's, Ross, and Hancock Fabrics. I never even made it to the mall on this trip. My other purchases included a cool mist humidifier, a small crock pot, and I hate to admit this one,
a scarf. You know, you can never have
too many scarves! For a week of shopping, not much money was spent, but I loved the time I spent in the stores browsing and looking.
