Southern Summer Nights - Melon Mint Mojito

*Disclosure* This is a sponsored event. I have not been compensated. Opinions are my own.

No worries about the August heat, Lyndi at NWA Foodie has us covered with cool refreshments for our #VirtualDinnerParty. While Debbie serves the appetizers, let Lyndi pour you one of her Melon Mint Mojitos. Mingle and visit with friends, your seat at the table is saved by Gina's place card flowers.

After a few sips, you'll want the recipe, so visit Lyndi, and while you're there be sure to enter the giveaway for the ARGENTA MARKET and MICROPLANE gift baskets that these great sponsors have donated for our party guests.

Enjoy your appetizers and refreshments, but be sure to save plenty of room for the side dishes soon to be coming up by Bethany and Christie and the main dish by Julie, then we'll top it all off with my special dessert on Saturday.

Vanilla Milkshakes

Summer vacation from school is winding down for my grandson Landon. He has spent his summer helping out at my house with the gardening and other chores, while still finding time for swimming and golf most days. He is also always willing to help out in the kitchen, and this summer he was interested in finding a good recipe for a milkshake. We tested out some different versions, but this simple one was Landon's favorite.

Vanilla Milkshake

2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a blender, combine ice cream, milk, and vanilla. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve. Makes 2 servings.

Two cups of ice cream, one cup of milk . . .

. . . and a teaspoon of vanilla extract, all combined in the blender.

Blend all the ingredients together until smooth.

Pour into glasses and serve. That's one cool way to beat the heat!

My New Sweet Tea

I was raised on sweet tea, and it is by far my favorite beverage. I love sweet tea, but I do have a little problem with the "sweet" part because of the calories. At times I have tried artificial sweeteners, but was never satisfied with those, and I have tried drinking my tea unsweetened, but that just doesn't cut it for a Southern girl. I really WANT my tea sweet, but I don't NEED all the calories from the sugar, and now I have finally found the product that solves that dilemma for me!

This Lipton Tea and Honey is my new favorite sweet tea! An 8 ounce glass has only 5 calories, and it is a super good sweet tea! My favorite flavor is this Iced Black Tea with Lemon, but it comes in several other choices that are also very good. There are flavors like Mango Pineapple, Peach Apricot, and Blackberry Pomegranate in the pitcher size packages. There are no artificial sweeteners in this tea, only honey for the sweetener. The tea is made from real tea leaves and has a wonderful taste.

These pitcher packages come with 6 packets that each make 1 quart of tea, or you can choose the to-go packages that have 10 individual packets.

The to-go packets are designed to be mixed with a 16.9 ounce bottle of water.

These are handy just to carry in a purse or tote bag so you can have them anytime. The to-go packets come in all the same flavors as the pitcher size package plus two more, strawberry acai and blackberry currant.

I am so happy to have found this product so that I can enjoy my sweet tea without all the sugar calories!

This product review is based on my own opinions, and I have not been compensated in any way for writing this post. The Lipton folks have never heard of me, but I sure love their tea!

Sober Sangria

Sober Sangria is a fruity, refreshing, festive drink with no alcohol. My Sangria is inspired by the "Baptist Sangria" made by Hannah at Hannah's Nest. This drink is easy to make and is a pretty and a fun drink to serve. Every time I make this my guests ask for the recipe.

Sober Sangria
1 (2 liter) bottle Sprite
1 cup instant tea powder (sweetened lemon flavor)
2 oranges, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
1 lime (for garnish)
Maraschino cherries (for garnish)

Add 1 cup instant tea powder to a large pitcher. Pour in Sprite gradually, as it will foam up when mixed with the tea. Continue to stir and add Sprite as the foaming subsides. Add orange and lemon slices, stir all together. Serve over ice; add garnish as desired.

You will need a 2-liter bottle of Sprite and instant tea powder that is sugar sweetened with lemon.

You will also need oranges and lemons for the Sangria and limes for garnish.

Slice the oranges and lemon into rounds.

Prepare the lime and cherries for garnish. I cut the lime into half moons.

Pour the Sprite into the tea powder a little at a time. There will be a lot of foaming!

Stir the Sprite and tea together, and gradually add more Sprite.

Add the oranges and lemon.
