Butter Cookies

Today I baked some dainty little Butter Cookies for a couple of my sweethearts, Ginger and Charlie. I adapted my recipe from the Taste of Home Cookies cookbook. They are made with a cookie press, so they are quick to create. These Butter Cookies are good for different occasions in any shape, but I think the little hearts are sweet for Valentine's Day.

Butter Cookies
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Sprinkles, optional

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour and baking powder, gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Using a cookie press, press dough 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Decorate with sprinkles, if desired. Bake in preheated oven for 7 - 8 minutes or until set (do not brown). Remove cookies from pan to a wire rack to cool.

Using a cookie press, drop the dough 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

If desired, decorate before baking with sprinkles.
