The Combo Of Coffee Cake And Coffee Cups Perfect To Relax After A Busy Day

Christmas and New Year celebrations are all over but not the partying time, it never ends. Every day is part day; you just need to find a reason with positive mind set. Partying is not only attending and enjoying the massive gathering with vibrant mood; you may enjoy some moments with your family members also with same spirit. Forget the concerns about the budget and enjoy at yours best. Is it really possible? Yes of course it is with nice collection of coffee cake and coffee or tea cups.

Enjoying every sip of favorite beverage at terrace or in lawn with homemade perfect coffee cake is a special liking for most of us. The pleasure of this small cost activity becomes multiple times higher if we have nicely shaped coffee or tea cup in hand. So, the presence of 2 or 3 different types of coffee and tea sets is necessary to enjoy the relaxing moments of life when you return home after long rush of busy day. Keeping the collection of cups and mugs up to date is not a costly affair; instead, it is a specific task that needs little bit concerns for some insignificant looking but important aspects.

When we roam the city stores or surf from one online store to another, we come across variety of cups and mugs. Most of these look impressive and ignite the desire to have these instantly. But do you know that nice looking coffee cups or tea cups may not be best buy from paid dollars? Yes, it is not compulsory that all the models from famous brands would be really a good addition to glassware collection. Similarly it is not sure that a nice looking cup would be really comfortable to handle and sip the drinks from. Then, consider following few issues before placing the order for any cup set.

Base should be broad enough to give the filled cup a good stability. It is not necessary that only round base are good; stability depends upon the height and the shape at upper end. Rectangular and contour edged tea cups are also in fashion. The theme is another major issue which most of us miss. The pattern and design over the cups should match with our likings or hobbies. Season can also be considered but the cup sets bought on this basis seem odd in other season. The handle is another aspect that needs special attention. All the long handles are not good; the space may be too much congested to accommodate two fingers.

Two Days Before Spring

Technically the first day of spring this year was March 20, 2013...that's for those of you who were buried under snow, hence not realizing it! Or like us, had a frigid week, beginning with a school cancellation due to ice, only 2 days before spring was to arrive. We have had 3 school cancellations this year due to weather, two of which came in March! Apparently, Old Man Winter didn't know he had over stayed his welcome and needed to move on.

Anyway, on this cold, icy "no school" day, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to play with my menu plan a little. See, I was supposed to be testing a new Crock Pot soup recipe later in the week, but since I had some extra time on my hands in the morning, plus what goes better with ice, wind and freezing temps, I switched a couple meals around so we could be warming up with a big bowl of soup later in the day.

This soup is a veggie lover's dream! So many colors, varieties and textures, you won't even miss the meat! In fact, if you use vegetable stock instead of the chicken (I used it because I had it on hand) it would make a fantastic, filling, vegetarian meal. The one ingredient that first caught my eye was kale. I love this dark leafy green, but I don't cook with it enough. In fact, the last time I did so was another soup, my Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice soup...and that was in January 2012! See, I told you I don't cook with it enough! This is also a great recipe because you can mix up the veggies you add. Whatever you have in the crisper, or whichever ones are your family's favorites, throw them in too! In fact, the original recipe didn't call for green beans at all, but I had some beautiful fresh, organic ones just waiting to be used up, so I thought why not.

If it is looking more like Spring where you are, I am sure you are as happy as can be. But if you are in an area that winter has camped out a little extra longer, find some solace in this soup. Either way, it's a comforting, healthy and delicious meal to come home to!

Crock Pot Minestrone Soup Adapted from Fix It and Forget It
6 c. chicken broth
4 carrots, peeled and diced
4 ribs celery, diced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 small zucchini, diced
1 c. kale, chopped
1/2 c. fresh green beans, chopped
1/2 c. pearl barley
1 (15 oz.) can cannellini beans
1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
Salt and Pepper to taste
Grated Parmesan cheese, optional

Mix everything in Crock Pot. Cook on LOW 6-8 hours until veggies are tender. Garnish with cheese if desired.

Nitrous Oxide Cartridges Delivering More Colors To Your Celebration

Last week, it was our first marriage anniversary; we were very much excited for the celebration plans. We wanted to make this memorable moment for us. We did various arrangements full of diversity. Then, we planed about the menu but we wanted to offer something different, mouth cherishing and budgetary also.

It is a fact that a celebration is not complete without the presence of creamy dishes on tables because all are fond of creamy dishes. Nowadays, readymade whipped cream available on stores in different packaging under different brands is not much reliable. Despite paying heavy, we cannot be fully assure of its quality. For this, we were discussing with our neighbor that how we can get best whip soft white cream. The experienced couple at once suggested to buy a set of cream dispenser and Nitrous Oxide Charger. They were very sure for the results and the perfect match of requirements. Really, the suggested items were new to me. Ultimately, when we experienced this, it was awesome.

By using Nitrous Oxide Charger we can get whipped cream in just 7 to 8 minutes. It is pure and homemade so you do not need to worry about hygiene and purity like factors. Cream charger is known as cream canister, nitrous oxide charger and whippets etc. It is a 8 cm. sized cylindrical shaped tool. It contains about 8 gm nitrous oxide gas a colorless gas with sweet taste. Food grade N2O has been tested by many worldwide laboratories and has been proved that it is not harmful. Nitrous Oxide Cartridges are easily available in the markets in many colors so we can purchase according to requirement. We may store it easily so no need to go market immediately when required. It comes with long expiry like 18 to 24 months.

The major advantage is that by the use of Nitrous Oxide Cartridges, we may get pure and fresh whipped cream in exactly desired flavors. When we started to use it, we really enjoyed the concept behind the design of cream chargers. We prepared whipped cream in many flavors for our party and without spending much of time in kitchen.

Pretzel Peeps

I read somewhere that Peeps marshmallow candies have been in production for about 60 years. That's probably right, because I grew up with them and decades have passed! Every year it seems that I am seeing more and more new colors and kinds for different holidays. I love to make these sweet and salty dipped pretzel treats, and I saw the idea for adding a Peep to the pretzel rods at Love From the Oven.

Pretzel Peeps

1 (12 ounce) bag white candy melts
1 bag large pretzel rods
Assorted sprinkles
1 (12 count) package Peeps marshmallow bunnies

Prepare a large sheet pan by lining with parchment paper. In a microwave safe dish, melt the candy according to package directions.  Dip the end of each pretzel rod in the melted candy, shaking off the excess. Holding the coated pretzel rod over a small dish, apply the candy sprinkles. Lay the pretzels on the prepared pan to dry. After the candy is dry on the pretzel rods, apply a small blob of melted candy to the back of a marshmallow bunny, then attach to the coated pretzel rod, holding in place for a few seconds. Place on the parchment paper to dry again.

Lay the dipped and sprinkled pretzel rods out to dry on parchment paper.

Attach the Peeps to the pretzel rods with some of the melted candy coating.

When the candy coating was dry, I packaged the Pretzel Peeps in little cellophane bags, and now they are in a basket of Easter grass just waiting for someone special. Something would just be missing if there were no Peeps at Easter.

Fall is here and it's time break out the long sleeves and pack away the summer clothes. It's also time to bring certain spices and recipes to the forefront of your kitchen. Weekend Company {Guest Blogger Kathy}

Good Morning. I hope your Easter weekend is off to a good start. Not only is this a holiday weekend for us, but it's also the beginning of our Spring Break, so needless to say I have a very happy Monkey on my hands. (And I can't lie, Mommy is just as excited!) We don't have anything major planned, but it's just the extra time I get with him that I'm so thankful for.

I want to thank my wonderful foodie friend, Kathy for joining me in the kitchen once again. She's sharing a fantastic recipe that would be a great use for all that leftover ham so many of us will have after tomorrow. So grab a cup of coffee and see what she has cookin'!

Thanks again to my blog friend Everyday Mom for having me back as weekend company again!

Easter is this weekend (but you knew that right? ha ha) and I am really looking forward to it. I've been decorating the house like crazy with crafts and we've made birds nest cookies and I can't wait to dye eggs with my kiddos today. My toddler is old enough to understand about the eggs, hunt them, and understand Easter's special meaning for the first time which makes it all the more precious to me. And my little girl just started walking in short bursts so I'm excited to see her drag her basket around. And if you're like us, you might be having ham for lunch or brunch. We are a family of 4 (well, 3 eaters if you put the 2 kids together) so if we do a nice ham for a holiday we always have leftovers even if we have family stop by which we probably will. I get a little bored of plain old ham sandwiches so I came up with a twist on a southern favorite: Hoppin John. Hoppin John is usually done at New Years and with sausage with the blackeyed peas but I tried it out with ham instead and it was delicious. I also spiced it up a bit with the Southwest corn and Jalapeno Peas. It's packed with flavor and a great way to think outside of the box and use up some of that left over Easter ham. Also, it's super quick to prepare which is a bonus for a busy family! Happy Easter from my family to yours and I'd love if you stopped by Sparkles And A Stove sometime to say hi!

Spicy Hoppin John w Left Over Easter Ham

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1½ cup ham diced
  • 2 cups of Uncle Ben’s instant rice
  • 1 can Jalapeno Black Eyed Peas (drained)
  • 1 can Green Giant Southwest Corn (drained)
  • ½ teaspoon Chalula Sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Southwest Seasoning
Instructions
  1. Saute' butter and onion in large skillet
  2. Add ham, rice, blackeyed peas, corn and seasoning to skillet.
  3. Mix thoroughly and cook on low for 15 minutes.

Fruit And Nut Cake - Making Holidays Special

Cakes are one of the most favorite delicacies for people all over the world. People enjoy cakes on all sorts of occasions. It is also worth mentioning that cakes are not new but centuries old. Christmas is one of those occasions when the biggest and heaviest cakes are made. A definite reason cannot be established for why you prepare the heaviest cake on Christmas, but it is a really enjoyable for everybody. Fruit and nut cake is one special type of cake that has been the favorite of people for long. Similar is the case of fruit and nut log, which are snacks, made from some real dry fruits.

Most of the times, people presume that they can enjoy a fruit cake only at Christmas time. This is not the case though. Basically, making a fruit cake is a long job and requires a lot of patience. This is because all the fruits and nuts to be added to the cake need have to be soaked in either rum or brandy for a few days beforehand only. Another alternative that you have at your disposal is to reach the nearest confectionary store and buy a cake. Though, it is very widely known that a homemade cake is far better than the one bought from market.

Another fact worth knowing about fruit cakes is that in many countries you can eat Fruit Logand cakes only during holidays. Also at many places, people try to avoid the use of alcoholic beverages such as rum or brandy in preparing the cake. They generally prefer fruit juices so that the cake can be eaten by even those people who don't drink alcohol.

Eating cakes on special occasions have become a tradition now. This tradition has seen a lot of changes lately. People are getting more aware of their health and physique. People are always on a look out for healthier snacks but that doesn't means that fruit cakes have lost their sheen in anyway. Also, fruit cakes have an advantage. A piece of cake that has been prepared in alcohol would stay fresh for almost a year so you don't have to worry about the cake getting stale or anything as such. All you have to do is to enjoy your piece of cake.

Any Day Brunch Part 2 {Eggland's Best Eggs}

Happy Good Friday! I hope however you plan to spend this Easter weekend, it includes people you love and delicious food you love to eat! If you are hosting a brunch this Sunday, then you've come to the right place for a simple idea that your guests will love.

Today is Part Two of the "every day" brunch I recently made for my family, thanks to Eggland's Best Eggs. Wednesday I shared the first recipe with you, a new muffin my boys absolutely flipped for, Blueberry Surprise Muffins.

And today I've got an easy, yet elegant quiche that would be perfect for Easter Sunday. So many of us include ham in our Easter meals, so why not include it this way, for brunch? But honestly, this quiche would be a great meal idea, any time of day.

As I told you Wednesday, I don't think you have to wait for a special occasion to make a yummy, satisfying and fun brunch for your family, but since I know so many of you will be doing exactly that this Sunday, this comes at a perfect time. But if brunch isn't included in your holiday plans, be sure to keep this in mind for any "normal" day too!

Brunch, rather it be for a big crowd on a holiday, or for your family as an extra special treat any weekend of the year, is always a pleasing and satisfying meal, especially when it includes dishes made with Eggland's Best Eggs.

And don't forget about the wonderful prize package that is up for grabs! Click here and scroll down to find out how to enter!

Maryland Crab Cakes

Maryland crab cakes are considered to be the National Food of the Preakness Stakes, the 2nd jewel of the US Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing which is a popular horse race done on the third Saturday of May, yearly. Obviously, crab cakes (CCs) are an American dish since they originated from Chesapeake Bay, Maryland and also in the city of Baltimore. These are widely-known most especially in the Mid-Atlantic States, the Gulf Coast, the Pacific Northwest, and the Northern California Coast, all of which are rich in crabbing industry. On both the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, a popular and very common ingredient for CCs is used which is called the endemic Dungeness crab. These are served on various high-end restaurants and coffee shops throughout the region.

A CC is, of course - made of crab meat, bread crumbs, mayonnaise, eggs, and milk. It also includes various sorts such as red or green pepper, yellow onion, and pink radishes, and they can be sauteed, broiled, grilled, smoked, or deep fried. Maryland CCs have two kinds - the Restaurant and the Boardwalk. The Restaurant CCs are also known as gourmet CCs for the reason that they are served without binder or filler, and are made of all-lump crab meat commonly served on a platter or on an open-faced sandwich. The Boardwalk, on the other hand, is just the common, breaded, deep-fried, and stuffed with various sorts of ingredients type.

These CCs differ in size, like that of a small cookie, or as big as a hamburger. They are also sometimes served with tartar sauce, remoulade, ketchup, or mustard. They say that any kind of meat crab will do when it comes to CCs, however, the meat of the blue crab is said to be traditionally used because it tastes the best of all. These blue crabs are natives of Chesapeake Bay, which is one of the main reasons as to why Maryland crab cakes are the best.

One might think or prefer to order a pie or a creme brulee instead of getting a CC for some reason that they just can't stand the thought of turning crab meat into cakes. What kind of taste will it bring when you mix crab meat, with bread crumbs and onions? It is indeed weird if you are to hear about it for the first time for the reason that crabs are just plainly eaten as crabs, dipped in vinegar or other spices, and most definitely not with bread crumbs. What most people do not know is that once they get a taste of it, and the next 3 or four bites, they will most likely be coming back asking for more. It has this different taste to it, that certain tanginess, that one tastes that lingers on. People who refuse to eat CCs do not have the slightest idea of what they are missing. And that is the reason as to why there is this simple write-up, to somehow serve as enlightenment to some, and a wake-up call to most.

Fruit & Nut Granola Bars

Granola bars are one of my favorite breakfast and snack treats, and I love making my own bars at home. I don't think I'm really a control freak in most areas, but I do like to be in control of what goes into my food. Being able to choose the ingredients for my granola bars gives me the assurance that none of the ingredients will have names that sound like they were poured from a chemistry lab beaker.

Print Recipe

Fruit & Nut Granola Bars

3 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup Rice Krispie cereal
1/4 cup chia seeds
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1 cup dried cranberries, chopped
1 cup dried apples, chopped
1 1/2 cups honey
1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Prepare a 9 x 13-inch pan by lining with aluminum foil, allowing the foil to over hang the sides of the pan slightly.
In a large bowl, combine the oats, cereal, chia seeds, walnuts, almonds, cranberries, and apples; mix well.
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine honey and peanut butter, stirring until melted together. Pour the melted mixture over the oat mixture and stir together. Firmly press the granola mixture into the prepared pan, then bake for 25 minutes. Cool, then lift the foil from the pan and cut into bars.

Chop the dried cranberries and dried apples into smaller pieces.

I love the mix of nuts and grains in this recipe.

Add the dried fruit to the grains and nuts; mix well.

Melt the honey and peanut butter together, then add to the granola mixture.

Press firmly into a 9 x 13-inch pan that has been lined with aluminum foil. I like to use a small pastry roller to pack mine in tightly.

Bake for about 25 minutes, then cool. Lift the granola out by the aluminum foil.

Cut into bars or squares as desired. I cut mine into 18 large bars.

Online Diwali Sweets Make Life Easy

The great epic of Ramayana contains the most popular legend associated with the meaning behind the festival of Deepavali. It is said that when the epitome of human virtue 'Maryada Purushottam' Sri Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of unfair exile which he accepted only to honour his elders and thereby set an example to human society for all times to come, the citizens of Ayodhya lit rows of earthen diyas to welcome their rightful ruler back. His brother Bharata had ruled Ayodhya for these fourteen years as his agent and had duly installed Rama's Charan padukas on the throne of Ayodhya!

Another legend associated with one of the days of Diwali is related with the day after Dhanteras, popularly known as 'Chhoti Diwali'. 'Chhoti Diwali' is also celebrated as 'Naraka Chaturdasi' when Krishna and Satyabhama killed the demon, Naraka. Despite Lord Indra intervening in the process, Lord Krishna proved his supremacy in putting an end to the demon Naraka on this day. Not only was Lord Krishna the Divine Advisor to Arjuna and the Pandavas in the epic battle of righteousness versus evil represented by the Kauravas, He - as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu the Preserver - is also the vanquisher of Narakasura. This event from Krishna's holy life is commemorated on 'Chhoti Diwali'.

We can see how Lord Krishna and Sri Rama, both considered avatars (incarnations) of Lord Vishnu are inextricably intertwined in the traditions and foundations of the most important festival of all in the Hindu calendar - the Holy Festival of Deepawali. Both the Hindu Gods are amongst the most respected and most popular Gods in Hinduism. They are worshipped in almost every Hindu home and remembered in times of need as well as trial. 'Hey Ram' and 'Radhe Krishna' are two of the most common phrases one can hear in religious Hindu homes.

Children eagerly look forward to Chhoti Diwali when the flow of gifts to and fro from friends and relatives turns into a torrent since only a day is left for Diwali. Diwali sweets and Diwali mithai are enjoyed all day on Chhoti Diwali and kids love a prelude to Diwali by merrily bursting firecrackers in the evening. Children as well as Adults love the Diwali mithai that inevitably forms a central part of the festival's celebration. With the availability of Online Diwali Sweets, one can place an order several days in advance so one doesn't need to rush on the last days before the festival.

Creme Egg Brownies

I am a huge fan of Cadbury Creme Eggs, and usually manage to have one (or two) each Easter season. So I was excited to find this recipe for Creme Egg Brownies. These brownies are NOT made with creme eggs, instead, they are modeled after a creme egg. A rich, milk chocolately brownie is topped with a sweet creamy filling and then finished off with chocolate glaze. It's hard to say which is better, the brownie or the actual creme egg. I better commence with the taste testing.

For the brownies, combine the cocoa, flour

and salt in a small bowl and set aside.

Chop the chocolate, and combine it with the butter in a medium glass bowl.

Microwave the chocolate and butter at 40% power at 45 seconds intervals, stirring with a rubber scraper between heating sessions.

Make sure you only melt the chocolate until it is barely melted. If it gets too hot, it will seize up. (If you prefer, you can melt the chocolate in a double boiler.) Add the brown sugar and white sugar,

and whisk until well combined and chocolate starts to cool. Stir in the vanilla and beaten eggs

then sprinkle the flour and cocoa mixture over the top

and gently fold in with a spatula just until combined. Pour the batter into a parchment paper-lined 8-inch pan.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely on a wire rack.

For the filling, cream together the corn syrup, butter and salt until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue beating until smooth. Add a little milk if the mixture needs some help coming together (but just a Tbsp - not more!).

Spread about 3/4 of the filling over the cooled brownies.

Add 2-3 drops of yellow food coloring to the remaining filling.

Stir well to combine, then dollop over the white filling

and carefully spread with a spatula.

Refrigerate for at least two hours to let the filling set.

For the glaze, combine the milk chocolate and butter in a small bowl

and melt, again using 40% power and about 30 seconds per interval - it might only take two heatings this time.

Stir until smooth then spoon the chocolate over the filling.

Carefully spread the chocolate out to the edges. I found it easiest to remove the brownies from the pan and fold down the paper a little to make it work.

Return the brownies to the fridge for overnight. (This is torture but you can do it!) Remove the brownies from the pan and cut into four rows

and four columns. Don't let them sit out too long or the filling will get runny. Although that's ok. Real eggs are runny, too!

Enjoy these, and all your Easter treats. But remember the reason we celebrate this weekend - our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Creme Egg Brownies

Brownies:
2/3 cup flour
2 tablespoons dark or dutch processed cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into cubes
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs, at room temperature, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream Filling:
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. milk, if necessary

Glaze:
3 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into cubes

Whisk together flour, cocoa, and salt in a small bowl and set aside.

Melt chocolate and butter in a medium-large bowl in the microwave at 40% power, at 45 second intervals, stirring between each heating. Do not overheat or chocolate will seize. This should take about 3 intervals, and you can stir the remaining lumps out which will melt easily.

Whisk in sugar and brown sugar and stir until dissolved and mixture has cooled slightly.

Whisk in eggs and vanilla extract until just combined. Sprinkle flour mixture over top and fold in to chocolate mixture using a large rubber spatula until just incorporated. Pour into an 8x8 inch pan that is lined with parchment paper.

Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Transfer pan to a wire rack and allow to cool completely.

For cream filling, beat together corn syrup, butter, vanilla, and salt on medium-high speed until smooth. Add powdered sugar, a little bit at a time, mixing until creamy. Dump 3/4 of the cream mixture on top of cooled brownies and spread into an even layer. Add 3-4 drops of yellow food coloring to remaining cream mixture and stir until evenly colored. Drop dollops of yellow cream on top of white layer, and then swirl gently with a spatula. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.

Combine chocolate and butter in a small bowl. Microwave at 40% power at 30 second intervals until melted. Stir until smooth. Pour over cream filling, carefully spreading into a thin, even layer. Return to refrigerator and chill overnight.

Remove brownies from pan using the edges of the parchment paper to lift the entire block out of the pan. Using a large sharp knife, cut into 2-inch squares. Brownies need to stay refrigerated for the creme filling to remain set. Makes 16 bars.

Any Day Brunch {Eggland's Best Eggs}

The word brunch can conger up countless images in a person's head. Long buffets filled with all the favorites: eggs, bacon, sausage, French Toast, potatoes, etc. Holiday meals surrounded by family and friends. Lazy Sunday mornings drinking coffee and enjoying the morning paper. But for most of us, all the images are connected by one thing, happy people enjoying delicious food; and I'm here to say brunch doesn't have to be saved for a special occasion. Brunch can be a meal your family enjoys any "not so special" day, any time of the year. And with help from my friends at Eggland's Best, my family did exactly that a couple weeks ago.

It was a Sunday like most other Sundays at our house. It was the 3 of us at home, sleeping in, and catching up on things around the house. But I had a little surprise up my sleeve that neither of my "boys" knew about~ I was going to treat them to a yummy brunch, filled with recipes from Eggland's Best. Their site has entire section dedicated to delicious recipes using their fantastic eggs, including a Breakfast Burrito and Sunny Side Breakfast Pizza, just to name a couple; but there are so many more to choose from.

Have you ever tried Eggland's Best eggs in your home? Well, if you haven't, let me give you just a few reasons why you should! Compared to ordinary eggs, Eggland's Best contain:

10 times more Vitamin E
Double the amount of Omega-3's
Twice the amount of Vitamin D
3 times more Vitamin B12
25% less Saturated Fat
38% more Lutein

As parents, we understand the importance of feeding our families nutritious food that provides them with power and energy to go through the day. With March being National Nutrition Month, it's a great time to reevaluate the foods we are all using in our kitchen every day, so we can feel confident we are giving our loved ones healthy foods to help them grow. And with Eggland's Best, we know just that!

When I began planning my brunch, and scouring the many recipes on the website, I was immediately drawn to not one, but two mouth watering dishes. The first I'm sharing today was our "starter". The teaser if you will. The thing I brought them to the table with, only to be followed by something equally scrumptious.

Plus, this recipe was so simple, it was a great opportunity to get little man into the kitchen with me. He loved stirring, mixing and helping any way he could.  If you're going to treat your family to a brunch, why not make them a part of it too? Get the kids into the kitchen with you, and make the entire thing a family event!

They thought they were getting ordinary blueberry muffins, which they would have been happy enough about, but little did they know when they bit into one, there was an extra surprise waiting on them. A creamy, lime flavored filling! And for my lime-loving boys...oh what a treat it was! They were absolutely thrilled!

I think these would be a fantastic addition to your Easter brunch, or if you're like me, your any day, ordinary, every day brunch!

Come back on Friday to see the main dish of my Sunday brunch, another great idea for this Easter weekend too!

How to Design Memorable Wedding Cake?

Recently I went to a wedding in Birmingham and the one thing that was unforgettable was the wedding cake and its decorations. It is not that bride and groom were not looking awesome, obviously they were at the top of everything else that happened in the wedding but it was cake that catched my attention and dreamed of having most memorable cake at my own wedding just like that. So I thought of ways to make it most memorable and decided to discuss it with all. With right decorations and shape, you can make wedding cake that you dream of.

Mostly round shaped cakes are widely used in weddings because of its simple design and low cost. As now more and more people are going for such stuffs, many suppliers are offering various styles of cakes to choose from like Cadbury purple with diamantes and cascading flowers, photo cakes with picture of bride and groom onto the cake, 3 tier with shapes of your choice, decorated with edible diamonds, raspberry pink satin ribbon and many more decorations to choose from. When such a large varieties are available then why would any one go for traditional shapes of round, square and oval?

I would not recommend you to go for heavy decorations cake if you are planning a small gathering as it will not suit your theme. Choose the cake according to the theme. If you are planning a budget gathering then go for real stuffs like fresh flowers and ribbons to bring down the cost. They will add beauty as well as real essence to it. These decorations will make your cake look beautiful without adding much to the budget. Instead of ordering special cake, people prefer to choose from already made that are on display in grocery stores. I know of many such stores in Birmingham that sell them and even offer you to add extra topping to match your theme.

Choose the taste of cakes by keeping your guests in mind. Some of the most common preferred taste are fruitcake, lemon, chocolate, marble, marzipan and all time favorite white. Look out for best deal by visiting shops and searching online. Do some research before finalizing any deal with one particular baker. Check their portfolio and website for reference. Be sure to check the price of cakes with decorations to avoid last time confusion and delivery option. By giving attention to small things you can make your wedding cake most memorable and crowd pleaser.

Care 4 u by Julz is supplier of Wedding Cake and Wedding Decorations Birmingham . Also supply and fit party decorations for any occasion, to compliment your cake and special event. To contact call 07796646493 or 0121-353-5980.

Toasted Marshmallows and Our Meals

The marshmallow has been a toasted favorite for years. Children love making smores and adults love adding them to desserts such as sweet potato pie. Regardless of their application, it is a fact that marshmallows have been around for much longer than you might expect.

To start with, the history of the marshmallow is actually very different from what it's known for today. In Ancient Egypt, it was applied for both its medicinal and flavor abilities. Originally, the marshmallow was an extract from the mallow plant, which is renowned for its ability to ease a sore throat. The mallow root was squeezed, releasing a substance that had several applications. Because pharaohs were required to speak to large audiences, this often left them hoarse, in which case the mallow came into popular use.

The Greeks also put the plant to use, including the leaves as an extract to reduce muscle aches, burns, and even alleviate severe medical conditions such as bronchitis. But, in these particular cases, they relied primarily on the leaves to make a marshmallow tea, rather than a sweet treat.

Since then, the marshmallow has undergone recipe changes and seldom includes mallow extract in its composition. There are various recipes, many of which include gelatin, sugar, and often vanilla extracts, which vary according to the producer, but have become extraordinarily popular in Asia.

The popularity of the marshmallow has grown so much that it even has its own dedicated holiday in Japan. In 1978, as an answer to those who gave chocolates and sweets during Valentine's Day, March 15 was designated as their National Marshmallow day to pay homage to the women of Japan.

Regardless of location, it is obvious that the marshmallow has been a symbolic sweet throughout time, and has made a mark in the books of history. For this, it has earned recognition and honor that can only be expressed by enjoying a dish that incorporates some toasted marshmallows. And while we may consider the only place a campsite favorite, we can always rely on our West Texas caterers to whip up a dish that puts this age-old favorite to tasty use.

As for those who enjoy the marshmallow here at home or in the back yard, we are truly able to understand what it means to spend some time roasting a few sweets together. After all, it's not always about the sweetness of the treat. It all comes down the experience we share together.

Awesome Asparagus

Asparagus is a traditional side dish at Easter dinner. If you need inspiration for a new way to prepare this fantastic vegetable, look no further. Asparagus is roasted until tender, then topped with herbed goat cheese and roasted sunflower seeds --umm yes please. This is delicious.

Start by trimming the ends of the asparagus and then laying them flat on a rimmed baking sheet.

Drizzle with the olive oil (I used garlic infused olive oil for extra flavor!)

and then roast for about 15 minutes, shaking the pan halfway though. Transfer the asparagus to a serving dish, and top with the goat cheese

and sunflower seeds.

I served this with roasted chicken, but I think it would be BEST with Easter ham!

I can't wait to make this again!

One year ago: Shrimp and Spinach Risotto
Two years ago: Caramel Macchiato Cheesecake
Three years ago: Tuna Tetrazzini
